Biography
Ketty Teriaca is a Sicilian classical pianist, a reference voice of Italian and international chamber music. Born in Catania, she graduated in piano from the "F. Cilea" Conservatory in Reggio Calabria in 1990 and completed her education with a degree in Literature with a musical focus at DAMS in Bologna, perfecting her studies with Maestros Vincenzo Balzani, Bruno Canino, Eliodoro Sollima and Pier Narciso Masi.
Over a concert career of more than thirty years she has won numerous national and international piano competitions, especially in duo formation, performing at the leading concert institutions and chamber-music festivals in Italy and abroad. She regularly performs with violinist Birgitte Stærnes at the Auditorium of the Grieg Museum in Bergen and is a regular guest at the Johan Halvorsen Muzikkfest. Since 2001 she is part of Ensemble Darshan, specialized in the live sound-design and re-musicalization of the great silent films of the 1920s, presented at the most important Sicilian film festivals.
She has released for Anaglyphos Records the album "Da Lontano", a fifteen-track piano-solo work featuring compositions by Marco Betta and collaborations with musicians such as Maria Gabriella Cappelletti, Valentina Grisafi, Luca Nobis, Luciano Maria Serra, Giovanni Seneca, Mario Gulisano and Daniel Wolff.
Alongside her concert career she carries on an intensive teaching activity as professor at the "Alessandro Scarlatti" Conservatory in Palermo, and serves as artistic director of the international chamber-music festival "Classica & Dintorni" in Catania.
