What we do

We produce, publish and license music for audiovisual productions.

Mhodi Music Publishing produces, publishes, and licenses original and catalog music for film, TV series, documentaries, commercials, video games, reels, and web content.

Our publishing catalog features Italian and international songwriters and artists represented directly by Mhodi and its labels. A wide range of genres spanning pop, jazz, singer-songwriter, alternative, folk, and classical, with special attention to tracks designed for audiovisual use.

Beyond sync, we also handle sub-publishing for international publishers who choose Mhodi as their representative in the Italian market.

From independent short films to major productions, every project receives the same attention, regardless of scale and budget.

In brief

What it means to sync a track.

In the music industry, «synchronization» means pairing a track with an audiovisual production of any type: a film, a TV series, a commercial, a video game, a web video.

Most synchronizations involve existing tracks (from our catalog or represented songwriters), but we can also produce original music on commission, designed to become the soundtrack of a specific work.

The synchronization right is the right to pair a musical composition with images or frames in an audiovisual product. It falls under copyright law and must be negotiated separately from the mere reproduction of the track. With the advent of the web, new forms of use such as streaming, mobilecasting, downloading, and social media have emerged, requiring specific licenses in addition to the sync license.

Mhodi handles everything: we suggest the track, quote the correct license for your use, and deliver a ready-to-sign contract.

Frequently asked questions

What you need to know.

How does music synchronization work?

+

Synchronization pairs a track with an audiovisual production (film, series, commercial, video game, web video). Using a track requires a sync license covering both the master recording and the publishing rights of the composition. Mhodi Music Publishing negotiates both and provides a single contract.

How much does it cost to license a song for a film, a commercial, or a video?

+

The cost depends on specific factors: duration of use, medium (TV, cinema, web, social), territory (Italy, Europe, worldwide), exclusivity, and type of project (commercial, editorial, indie). There are no standard rates. Tell us about your project and we will send you a quote within 5 business days.

What is the difference between master rights and publishing rights?

+

The master right is the right to the recording of the track (usually held by the label). The publishing right is the right to the composition, i.e. lyrics and music, belonging to the songwriter and publisher. To synchronize a track, both authorizations are needed. From our proprietary catalog we obtain both in a single step (cleared rights).

Can I license a track from the Mhodi catalog for an Instagram reel or TikTok?

+

Yes. We also handle licenses for social media use, brand content, digital campaigns, and creators. The cost is proportional to the use: a license for a brand reel is quoted differently from one for a TV commercial. Request a specific quote for your case.

Do you have a catalog of Sicilian or Italian regional music?

+

Yes. The Mhodi publishing catalog includes a wide selection of contemporary and traditional Sicilian music (singer-songwriter, Mediterranean folk, reinterpreted popular music) thanks in particular to the Comusi label, dedicated to folk, as well as the rest of the Italian catalog (pop, cantautorato, jazz, classical, rock, alternative). Ideal for projects set in Southern Italy or with a Mediterranean identity.

How quickly do you respond to a licensing request?

+

Within 5 business days of receiving the brief, the time needed to select the right tracks. A single dedicated contact, no intermediaries.
