About Us

We are people
driven by
emotions.

If art is shared, knowledge multiplies.
Since 2008

An independent label that breaks the traditional mold.

Mhodì Music Company is an independent Italian record label. It has been operating since 2008 as a record company and music publisher, with activities extended to live entertainment. A model built on collaborations: artists and strategic partners who, like the gears of a clock, come together to create a mechanism of perfect energy.

The first gear is discovery. We seek out and promote quality music by Italian artists, building an international network of relationships that enables both export and, in turn, the import and distribution of the best international productions in Italy.

The second is technology. A distribution platform and software developed in-house to automate repetitive processes, from metadata management to royalty reporting, giving artists back the resource that truly matters: time to create.

Vision

Dreamers with their feet on the ground.

To give people around the world a complete and honest view of the current international music landscape, free from the filters imposed by multinational corporations.

Mission

Reaching the goal.

To produce, distribute, promote and share the story behind the best music in Italy and abroad. With method, with network, with care.

Our story

How Mhodì was born.

It all started with an idea by Giuseppe Strazzeri: multi-instrumentalist and Italian music industry executive, passionate about technological innovation since the early days of the internet. He followed the evolution of the web and the rise of digital closely, realizing early on that technology would change the rules of music: the way it is produced, distributed and reaches listeners. A path he embarked on at a young age in the industry: first as a promoter and tour manager for well-known Italian artists, then as a record label executive.

Until 2008 Giuseppe worked for several companies in the sector: years in which he gained experience but also developed the feeling that something was not working. From that realisation came the decision to change direction: to build something different, not an assembly line but a creative space. And so, on 6 September 2008, Giuseppe founded Mhodì.

Charlie Chaplin among the gears of Modern Times, a metaphor for the industrial monotony that crushes creativity
The music industry, more and more each day, gave me the impression of resembling a factory rather than something creative: repetitive rhythms, rigid rules, schedules dictated by a market that asked artists to conform before they could even express themselves.

The Mhodì logo in motion

The logo: a little man escaping the gears.

The visual reference is Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times, with the little man crushed by the factory gears. From that image the Mhodì logo was born: a small stylised man running away from the cog wheels to find creative freedom again. A symbolic escape that captures the record label's manifesto in a single image.

The name: Mhodì, like Modigliani.

The company name was born from an admiration for Amedeo Modigliani, an Italian who lived in France: born in Livorno, he moved to Paris as an adult, where his Montparnasse friends called him «Modi».

Giuseppe recognized himself in that mirrored figure: he, an Italian born in France; Modigliani, an Italian who arrived in France. But above all he identified with his character: a nonconformist, faithful to a deeply personal vision even when the Parisian market demanded otherwise. Modi did not join any movement of his time (neither Cubism nor Futurism) and painted the way he wanted.

That recognition gave birth to the name Mhodì: «Modi» with a small h added to make it unique. A name that speaks of independence before music.

I had the feeling, or perhaps the intuition, that everything sooner or later would end up inside that screen.

Two seemingly distant references (an early twentieth-century portrait and a 1936 satirical comedy) united by an invisible thread: the pursuit of artistic freedom outside imposed mechanisms.

Divisions

The gears of the Mhodì machine.

Together with an ever-growing network of partnerships, they bring to life the dream of a world where the listener's musical taste is not shaped solely by the mainstream market, but is a taste informed by everything the global record industry has to offer.

Where we are

Catania, Sicily.

Our headquarters are in Sicily, in Catania. It is not just a geographical detail: it is a sonic one. The sea shapes the way we listen, the way we choose, and the fortune of doing all this right from here.

No, you will not find us at the beach. At least not during office hours. Technology moves us: on Monday we are in New York, on Tuesday in Tokyo, by Friday back here, just in time for an “arancino”. Our real office is the network of relationships we build every morning.

Every visit starts here and takes a different direction. Choose yours.
