Biography
Kaballà, born Giuseppe Rinaldi (Pippo to those who know him), is a Sicilian singer-songwriter, author and composer. His writing weaves Italian songwriting with the musical roots of the Mediterranean, blending folk, rock and world music into one of the most recognizable voices on the Italian and international scene.
He debuted in 1991 with "Petra Lavica", an album that opened a new chapter in Italian folk/rock and defined its sonic identity. His solo path continues with "Le Vie dei Canti" and "Lettere dal fondo del mare", works that bring out his passion for the Italian songwriting tradition.
In cinema he wrote "Brucia la terra", the celebrated serenade composed for Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather Part III": a song later reinterpreted by numerous artists that has become one of the symbolic references of contemporary Sicilian music.
As an author he has taken part several times in the Sanremo Festival and has written for Antonella Ruggiero, Mario Venuti, Eros Ramazzotti and Josh Groban. He contributed to Placido Domingo's album "Amore Infinito", turning Karol Wojtyła's poems into songs and writing a duet with Andrea Bocelli.
In 2024 he released "Fin' a dumani", a new reading of the iconic track from "Petra Lavica" made with the Sicily Folk Orchestra thirty-three years after the original.
