Noema, Il Peso del Silenzio ("The Weight of Silence")

Noema return with "Il Peso del Silenzio" ("The Weight of Silence"), a five-track EP that marks a turning point in the band's journey. Less speed, more density. Less exhibited anger, more restrained tension. A work that moves between post-punk and noise rock with a compositional maturity that does not betray the urgency.

Recorded live in the Catania studio the band carved out of a former port warehouse, the EP captures the sound of a rehearsal room transformed into a sonic laboratory: natural reverb, amplifiers pushed to the limit, no digital correction.

A record that does not ask permission

"Il Peso del Silenzio" was born from a period of forced silence. The band had not played live in over a year, and that silence became raw material. The lyrics speak of waiting, social pressure, and what happens when you turn down the volume on the world and realize the noise was inside all along.

We did not want to make an angry record. We wanted to make an honest one. And honesty, sometimes, weighs more than anger.

The opening single, "Frequenza Zero" ("Zero Frequency"), is a wall of guitars that opens onto an almost whispered chorus. A contrast that defines the entire EP: the violence of the sound against the fragility of the voice.

"Cenere" ("Ash") slows the tempo almost to a standstill, building a seven-minute crescendo reminiscent of the most introspective Mogwai. "Neon Vuoto" ("Empty Neon") is the most direct track, the one that works live, with a circular riff that plants itself in your head.

The Production

Produced for d00b by Mhodì Music Company, the EP was mixed by Marco Ferrara and mastered in Berlin by Andreas Lubich. The choice of external mastering was deliberate: the band wanted a sound that could hold its own against the European scene without losing its Mediterranean identity.

"Il Peso del Silenzio" is available on all digital platforms. The band will tour from April with 6 dates across Sicily, Calabria, and Puglia.
