We need rock.
That's why we started d00b
While tens of thousands of AI-made songs get uploaded every single day, we at Mhodì decided to walk the other way. This is d00b, our new rock division. We're looking for real bands to produce and release, wherever they are. We're already choosing: the first productions arrive in 2027.
Let's just say it plainly: machine-made music has taken some of the fun out of it for us. Not because it sounds bad — honestly, it often sounds too clean. That's not the point. Every day tens of thousands of AI-generated songs get uploaded, and we've reached the point where almost nobody can tell which ones a person wrote and which ones an algorithm did. When that happens, something shuts off. Listening turns into suspicion instead of surrender.
We've been listening to rock our whole lives, and we know exactly what makes us reach for the volume knob. It isn't perfection. It's the moment a voice cracks because the word actually costs something. It's the pick held too tight, the tempo creeping up because the drummer is pouring everything into it. A machine has no reason to do any of that — it has nothing to lose. A musician does. And you can hear it.
Here's the good part: we're not the only ones hungry for it again. Rock has come back to fill festivals and charts right now, right as AI floods everything. Maybe it's a reaction, maybe some things just never really leave. We don't much care why. What we care about is that people want real bodies on a stage again.
This is d00b
That's where d00b starts (say it d-zero-zero-b, or just doob). It's the new rock label from Mhodì Music Company, and it's built on a fairly unfashionable idea: listen to the bands before you look at the numbers. We want to pick artists for what they have to say, and then actually stick around — from the recording to the stage. We put it together in 2026, and we took our time. Right now we're focused on one thing only: finding the talent to produce and release. The first productions arrive in 2027.
This is really what we've always done. Mhodì's mission, from the very beginning, has been one thing only: to produce music that moves people, outside today's market logic. It's exactly the job an independent is supposed to do — to exist precisely because someone still refuses to chase the music of the moment just to keep their job safe. We've never had that fear, and we don't plan to start now.
What we're after, concretely: rock, the real thing. Hard rock, garage, punk, blues, and everything around them. We don't care about the exact subgenre, we care about recognizing a sound and hearing that there's something behind it. No cover bands, no copies of copies. And it doesn't matter where you're from: Italy or the other side of the planet, it's all the same to us. There's only one thing we won't take, and that's AI-made music. Real people play here. Everything else, to us, is noise.
How to get heard
If that's your music, let us hear it. At d00b.org there are two ways in, and the same A&R is listening to both. One is sending your demo through the form: fast, private, just a couple of links and two lines about you. The other is «create your band», a game where you build your members' avatars, publish your own page and let fans push you up the rankings. Either way the listening is free, it's open to anyone in the world, and it'll stay free. A label pays for the music it believes in, not the other way around.
Rock doesn't need numbers to exist. It needs people who play it like their life is on the line. If that's you, we'll see you at d00b.org.
A few quick answers
What language do you want us to sing in? Any language at all. What counts is the sound and what you have to say, not the language you say it in.
Do you accept AI-made music? No. Only music that's actually played.
What are you doing right now? We're looking for bands to produce and release — already choosing, with the first productions out in 2027.

Modern Times of Music
When we envisioned the Mhodì brand, the reference to Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times came naturally. We wanted to capture in a single image the idea of free music, outside the box.
