Modern Times of Music
When we envisioned the Mhodì brand, the reference to Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times came naturally. We wanted to capture in a single image the idea of free music, outside the box.
We live immersed in an increasingly automated world, where we all tend to live mechanically, with our eyes and minds glued to computers and smartphones, where everything is a continuous virtual exchange -- never real, never tangible.
When we envisioned the Mhodì brand, the reference to Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" came naturally. We wanted to capture in a single image the idea of free music, outside the box, beyond conventional gears.
We are constantly bombarded by images and stereotypes that glorify perfection: the perfect look, the perfect body, the expensive car, the luxurious house, the right place, the right friend, the right timing.
But what is "right"?
What makes a person "right"? Their success in life? But what does success even mean?
Success n. [from the Latin successus -us "event, good outcome", derived from succedere, meaning "to happen" and "to succeed, to have a good outcome"].
This word actually has such a broad meaning, yet it is used in an incredibly limited and limiting way. It seems like the world does everything to make us understand that if we are not in the mechanism, in the gear, we are out. Out of everything.
This is where Mhodì was born
It is precisely from this reflection that Mhodì was born. Because behind work like ours there cannot and must not be an automated assembly line, because music is creativity, at every level.
And yet even in the world of art there are pre-established mechanisms, and we have deliberately chosen to stay outside them. To not conform to rules dictated by a market whose fate is always controlled by a few puppeteers pulling the strings.
Music is work, that is true. And it is extremely serious and extremely difficult work. But we are all free to choose how we work, without submitting to what "the market" dictates, simply doing what we love and what moves us.
At Mhodì, we need to be free, to always have new inspiration, the curiosity and the right attention to listen to and discover quality music from artists around the world.
